Dear Class of 1968
Greetings from Lansing Catholic High School. The Class of 2009 has now joined our alumni ranks. Their achievement signals another year has passed both for our school and for alumni like you. It seems it was just weeks ago that Tom and I had the opportunity to meet many of you in person as we shared in your reunion activities. It was a treat for us to be part of that special weekend.
In the weeks following your reunion, we had the opportunity to speak with Jim Wendling about the potential for the Class of 68 to make a very special 40th Anniversary gift to the high school. We shared an enthusiastic conversation and were excited to think that your gifts could help underwrite a dream project that would impact our alumni for years to come. That project, the "Net Community", is a few steps closer to becoming a reality. This month we will install the software to run the program and begin a discovery and training program to incorporate the "Net Community" into our website. It is a very exciting time for us and we are eager to experience the benefits this technology will provide for our school and our alumni community.
Tom and I are asking for your help, the Gabriels Class of 1968 can play a significant role in helping us make this dream a reality. We are asking that you consider a gift of $300 annually ($25 per month) for three years. Your gift will help underwrite the software purchase, installation, training and consulting fees to get this program up and running.
Implementing new programs and sustaining funding for established programs has been challenging indeed. All of us have been impacted at some level by the changes in our economy and our school is no different. Budgets are lean, every dollar we spend is carefully considered and fundraising success is critically important for our school and our families. We hope that you can help us reach more alumni, improve our ability to touch their lives and expand the level of support for our school by making a gift to the "Net Community" project. You can be the difference in our tomorrow.
As Lansing Catholic looks toward the future, there are many challenges to meet.
We must continue to maintain and upgrade our facilities
The Auditorium, Chapel, Music instruction classroom, locker rooms and more require renovation and funding.
The Heritage II Campaign to raise the dollars needed for these critical facilities must move forward.
With the "Net Community" in place we will be able to get our story out to more alumni, invite their participation, provide up to the minute reports on funding, construction progress and more. The "Net Community" project will provide us the tools to be better connected to our community and more successful in our efforts.
There is yet one other funding challenge that is both immediate and critical to our future; tuition assistance to families in need.
We must expand our revenues to meet the tuition assistance needs of our families which now exceed $196,000 annually.
Nearly 25% of our families receive some kind of financial help and we expect those numbers to grow for next year.
This year, we asked our own school families to help those in need. Thirty seven families have responded to date with gifts totaling more than $26,000. We are blessed by their generosity.
With the "Net Community" in place, we will be able to share success stories like this with all our alumni as they happen! The "Net Community" project is not a one way street. This powerful program will provide you our alumni with connectivity to classmates, calendars, special events, news, publications and more. It will allow all of us to build and nurture the relationships that make us family.
We hope you will thoughtfully consider our invitation to invest in Lansing Catholic. We are truly blessed to call you family.
Sincerely,
Tom Maloney, Principal Mary Frank, Development Director
